September 2015 saw the launch of the first issue of Tec Review, a magazine focusing its attention on trends in innovation, entrepreneurship, science, and leadership, topics that are not only central to Tec de Monterrey but also core ideas which move and transform the planet.
The aim was to create a fresh magazine that was close to its audience, for curious people who want to be informed through a medium that carries out rigorous and verified journalism.
How was this achieved? By searching for the best writers, journalists, and communicators with the ability to research and tell stories, who can also speak clearly about what may be complicated issues.
From the outset, we decided at Tec Review to focus on the Mexico of ‘yes’, that is, on the side of the country that doesn’t normally come across in the news.
We considered it essential to showcase those entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators, and leaders who have had a dream and who have dared to make it come true. They’re an inspiration and can become catalysts for the community.
What’s more, one of our publication’s objectives from the start was precisely to form a community around the culture of knowledge without limiting ourselves to the borders of our institution.
“Our hope is for Tec Review to become a space for shared intelligence and a meeting place for all readers inside and outside our university,” wrote Salvador Alva, then rector of Tec de Monterrey, in the editorial of the first edition. We believe that this has undoubtedly been achieved.
Six years later, we’re bringing together a large community of people who read, listen to, and watch Tec Review through our different platforms.
Since 2016, our site has gathered more than 19 million unique users, primarily from Mexico, Spain, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Venezuela. Our digital magazine can now be enjoyed anywhere in the world, as can our podcast, which has been number 1 in Spotify’s Technology category on numerous occasions.
We’re celebrating six years and 40 issues of the digital magazine with a digital book (Spanish) dedicated to all of our readers, people with curious minds and a thirst for knowledge.
In this book, we’ve brought together some of our most significant stories, interviews with famous personalities, analyses, and high-profile photo stories.
Virtual influencers, the discovery of mammoths at what is now the Felipe Ángeles Airport, and lessons on entrepreneurship from Mexican unicorns or positive leaders are just some of the stories you’ll find in this book.
In its 200 pages, you will also be able to appreciate something that has distinguished our publication over the course of these six years: the quality and approach of its editorial design (Tec Review has received 13 awards for its photographic and design quality).
Illustrations, infographics, and all types of graphical elements are a constant in its pages, which complement the information to make the reading experience a more pleasant one.
